چکیده
Abstract Background Immediate breast reconstruction with tissue expander in cancer patients who were expected to receive adjuvant therapy, such as chemotherapy or radiotherapy, has been a topic of debate. Postoperative complications from procedures can delay the timing treatment and subsequently increase probability recurrence. The purpose this study was identify impact radiotherapy on postoperative underwent immediate (IR) using expander. Methods We conducted retrospective 1081 mastectomy IR insertion between 2012 2017 Samsung Medical Center. divided into two groups based (complication group vs. no complication group). Complication regarded have surgical removal conservative clinical findings infection, capsular contracture, seroma, hematoma, rupture, malposition, viability, cosmetic problem. had 59 (5.5%) 1022 (94.5%). Results In univariate analysis, significantly associated complications. multivariate however, only higher pathologic N stage ( p < 0.001). Chemotherapy = 0.775) 0.825) not risk factors for Conclusions after may be option even when are radiotherapy. These results will aid concerned about caused by determine whether IR. Trial registration Patients selected registered retrospectively, medical records evaluated.

Does Acellular Dermal Matrix Thickness Affect Complication Rate in Tissue Expander Based Breast Reconstruction?
Background. While the benefits of using acellular dermal matrices (ADMs) in breast reconstruction are well described, their use has been associated with additional complications. The purpose of this study was to determine if ADM thickness affects complications in breast reconstruction. Methods. A retrospective chart review was performed including all tissue expander based breast reconstructions...
متن کاملImmediate Breast Tissue Expander-Implant Reconstruction With Inferolateral AlloDerm Hammock and Postoperative Radiation: A Preliminary Report
OBJECTIVE To preserve the mastectomy skin envelope in select patients destined to receive radiation following mastectomy, we performed immediate tissue expander-implant reconstruction with a subpectoral tissue expander and an inferolateral AlloDerm hammock for complete implant coverage. We hypothesized that the AlloDerm hammock may allow greater intraoperative volume expansion and potentially a...
متن کاملThe Effect of Breast Reconstruction Prosthesis on Photon Dose Distribution in Breast Cancer Radiotherapy
Introduction: Siliconeprosthetic implants are commonlyutilizedfor tissue replacement and breast augmentation after mastectomy. On the other hand, some patients require adjuvant radiotherapy in order to preventlocal-regional recurrence and increment ofthe overall survival. In case of recurrence, the radiation oncologist might have to irradiate the prosthesis. The aim of this study was to evaluate...
متن کاملAbstract: Tissue Expander Failure in Breast Reconstruction
INTRODUCTION: Nearly 75% of breast reconstruction procedures performed by ASPS members in 2015 involved tissue expanders. Despite the advantages of expander-based reconstruction, complications are common and can require early removal of the tissue expander. Patient preference and oncologic factors may also prompt unanticipated removal of the tissue expander. We present our experience with tissu...
متن کاملDoes neoadjuvant chemotherapy for breast cancer increase complications during immediate breast reconstruction?
BACKGROUND Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) has been administered since the 1990s and is now one of the major treatments for breast cancer. It can achieve extremely positive results in some patients. Whether NAC affects immediate breast reconstruction (IBR) using an expander, however, remains unclear. METHODS A retrospective study was performed at Tokyo Medical and Dental University (TMDU) hosp...
